Front Porch Decorating Ideas Summer
Wow! It's hard to believe that it's June already, but the countdown to summer vacation is now officially on. As always, on the first of every month I join some of my favorite blogging friends to share our 10 minute decorating ideas and this month is all about summer!!
May was a really busy month for us as we worked on all of our outside spaces for The Household Organization Diet. While we are not quite done everything, I feel like there is {finally?} an end in sight. We did some pretty big changes this year so I can't wait to show you everything! Today though, I thought I would start off with some front porch decorating ideas and a really simple way to decorate your front door.
Sometimes I go with a set color scheme with our flowers, but this year anything goes! I pretty much just bought everything that caught my eye and ended up with a rainbow of colors.
These petunias are my favorite – I love the speckled look that they have. One day I might get around to actually planting them, but for now, I just left them in their container and put them in this flower caddy. I just lined the bottom of the crate with some plastic so it doesn't rot out with all of the water.
I also picked up a couple of hanging baskets for either side of the porch.
I wanted to add something a little fun to the porch and thought that these wooden seagulls were pretty cute.
I had to get two so they weren't lonely. 😉
Even though it's summer, the boys still manage to gather a lot of dirt so a door mat is still a must.
For our front door, I wanted to do something different than a wreath. I had a few flowers left over from my potting that I hadn't used so I decided to add them to a bucket and hang that instead. I was originally going to get some faux stems but I love using the fresh ones for a change.
Just drill a drainage hole in the bottom of the bucket, fill the bottom with some packing peanuts {this makes it less heavy}, and top with soil and your plants. Easy-peasy!
I also added some chalk vinyl to and used a Chalk Ink Artista Pro pen to write the Welcome sign. Since I will be watering it and the chalkboard will likely get wet, I used the Artista pen since it won't come off with water like the Wet Wipes version {it will still come off with an ammonia based cleaner however}.
And there you have it! I am hoping to finish up staining our back porch today and might actually be able to show you next week!
Before you leave, be sure to check out these beautiful {and simple!} summer decorating ideas. I know you'll love them!
